All about motorhome parking

Finding motorhome parking: safe, dry and suitable for your motorhome

Search motorhome storage by region and compare locations by access, vehicle dimensions and facilities.

A good camper parking is more than just a parking space. You want the motorhome to be safe, protected from wind and weather and that you clearly know when and how to pick up the vehicle. At Kampeerspot, compare your storage locations on type of storage, price, available space, security, accessibility and additional amenities. See also our motorhome moisture check and motorhome vehicle inspection for extra reassurance before or after longer storage.

02

Indoor storage, covered storage or outdoor storage

Indoor installation usually provides the most protection against rain, hail, frost, UV radiation and dirt. A fully enclosed hall or garage is especially interesting when the camper is not used for several months. Do check ventilation, access, maximum altitude and space to manoeuvre safely.

A covered camper parking is a middle road: the vehicle is located out of direct precipitation and sun, while space often remains partially open. Outdoor storage can be more economical, but look at terrain protection, subsurface, lighting and distance between vehicles.

03

Motorhome parking by region in Europe

Regional search makes it easier to find a location that is practically accessible. In Europe you can search Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany and other European regions as supply expands. As more providers join, the supply can be further refined to location and subregion.

Search motorhome storage by region and compare locations by access, vehicle dimensions and facilities. A slightly further location can be attractive when price, security or access better match how often you use the motorhome.

04

What do you pay attention to when it comes to security and access?

Check that the site is closed and what security is present, e.g. camera surveillance, access control, lighting or alarm. Ask who has access to the location and how visitors are registered. Security is not a single measure, but a combination of terrain, access and management.

Also check when you can pick up the RV. Some stables offer free or 24/7 access, others work only by appointment. During seasonal storage, vehicles can be closer to each other, limiting intermediate collection.

05

How much is camper parking in Europe?

The price varies by region, type of storage, vehicle size and equipment level. A simple courtyard is usually priced differently than a closed indoor storage with power, camera surveillance or additional service. Also length and height of the motorhome can affect the rate.

Therefore, do not compare only the monthly amount. Also check whether power, drip drawers, water, laundry facilities, pick-up service or controls are included. A higher monthly price can be attractive when services you need are already part of the offer.

06

Winter parking for your camper

For longer winter storage, a dry, well ventilated place is important. Clean the camper, remove food products and follow the manufacturer's instructions for water installation, prepare batteries and winter. Check tyres and ventilation before the vehicle is put away for a longer time.

If you want to go on the road every now and then during winter, choose a storage facility where intermediate pick-up is possible. Please discuss in advance whether the vehicle remains freely accessible and whether, for example, drip loading or periodic checking is possible.

Need to move the motorhome to another location? See our motorhome transport service or read our motorhome buying and maintenance guides.

07

Pre-check dimensions and facilities

Large integral campers and alcove campers require more height and room for manoeuvre than a compact bus camper. Therefore, check maximum length and height, port width, driving paths and turning circles before booking. A location suitable for caravans is not automatically suitable for every motorhome.

Convenient amenities can include 230V, drop charger, water point, laundry area, maintenance service, tire pressure control or a pick-up and delivery service. Use the filters to show only features that are actually available at active locations.

08

Contract, insurance and responsibilities

Please read the conditions for access, payment, cancellation and liability before concluding a stable agreement. Ask what the stall holder expects when you want to pick up the camper mid-term and whether there are fixed pick-up and delivery times. Clear appointments prevent misunderstandings during a longer storage period.

In addition, check your insurance cover during storage. The conditions may vary by insurer, form of storage and use situation. A closed site or camera surveillance does not automatically mean that any damage or theft is covered under the same conditions.

09

Prepare your RV before it goes into storage

Pre-clean and dry the motorhome, remove food and check windows, roof shutters and ventilation. Always follow the instructions of manufacturer and installer for water installation, gas, batteries and winter preparation. Good preparation helps to reduce moisture, smell and technical problems during standstill.

Note mileage and visible position before you move the vehicle and discuss with the provider what checks are possible during the storage period. When power or drip drawers are available, agree how this is used and what costs are included.

Compare camper parking and contact us

Create a shortlist of locations that fit distance, budget and vehicle size. See the photos, available places, conditions and facilities per location. Then contact the provider directly to confirm practical matters before you bring the motorhome.

Kampeerspot brings together the current storage facilities, filters and location information. For example, a general search term as camper parking in Europe can be reduced step by step to a concrete location that fits your motorhome and way of travel.
